Early Days
Shortly after moving from the North of Ireland to Cork, Rory obtained his first guitar, a parlor style flat top model seen in many of his childhood photographs. As a young musician Rory honed his skills performing in local talent shows and concerts. Barely in his teens, Rory bought his signature 1961 Fender Stratocaster and joined The Fontana Show Band, performing to an ever-growing audience. Determined to express his sound, Rory assumed the lead, changed the band name to ‘Impact’ and continued to tour, slowly veering away from the homogenous show band format. Soon after, Rory would fulfill concert dates on continent as a new trio, Taste.
