On what would have been Rory’s 75th.
I’m writing this in Rory’s old house which is rather strange, it’s as if I would expect him to return to the familiar dwelling, together with a guitar he’d been lent by a West End store to try out.
But sadly not, nor, did did he see a birthday beyond his forty-seventh, anyway, my brother wasn’t one to celebrate or count his milestones and was rather shy when surprise parties were sprung on him.
If Rory was still here, I think my brother’s thoughts would be with the difficulties faced by the working musicians of these times, so, I guess he would like us to celebrate his memory listening to the music he bequeathed us, if possible ‘live’, performed by Rory’s legion of fine players and on all instruments – from bagpipes to bodhrans!
But his own records do nicely or heard on the radio too, played by some faithful d.j.s.
My grateful thanks to all concerned in keeping my brother’s good name to the fore; Daniel and Eoin, all the Rory social media forums, record, publishing and media companies and importantly to you his fans and admirers.
However you remember Rory’s birthday, on the 2nd of March, my blessings to you and wish you an enjoyable time.
